Major pelvic ganglia in male and female rats were injected with the non-toxic tracer, cholera toxin subunit B. Preganglionic and somatic motor neurons were identified in cleared spinal cord (T13-L2 & L6-S1) viewed with light sheet microscopy. The dendritic fields of labelled preganglionic neurons were segmented (Imaris). This demonstrated the sacral preganglionic neuron pathway which innervates many neurons of the major pelvic ganglion. It also identified the sympathetic preganglionic neurons that regulate pelvic organs via pelvic ganglion neurons. A subset of somatic motoneurons were labelled, indicating that some motoneurons that innervate pelvic striated muscles project via the major pelvic ganglion."}}
